My favorite things, both classic and new...

As I sit here, beginning this new blogging adventure, I continue to add to the already massive list of things that I want to write about on these "blank pages" of mine. For the first time, I can write about anything and everything! Possibilities are endless, and yet I can hardly narrow the topics to write one blog at a time. Decision- making has never been a strong quality of mine, and I don't think that it's about to improve with all of these choices!

I guess I should start at the beginning.. why start a blog? well, it just so happens that one of my favorite people in the whole world, and someone who has played a huge role in shaping me into who I am today...yes, Caroline Lamberth, I am talking about you- started a blog last year, and after reading hers', have been inspired to do the same!

Deciding to create a blog. Check. But now what am I supposed to name it? It has to be something good, something that represents my personality, something that I can fall back on when I can't think of what to write about. After an hour of careful thought (well, maybe not quite an hour, but a good chunk of time for sure), I decided upon the title, "These are a few of my favorite things." The phrase is simple, and to some may seem trite and overused, but to me it is perfect!

Considering that The Sound of Music has been one of my favorite movies since birth, and that I would like to share my favorite thoughts, quotes, pictures, stories (the list goes on and on), on this blog, what could be more perfect? That's right. Nothing!

I'm an old soul for a girl who just turned 19. I love the classics... anything in that category: Old music- Frank Sinatra. Old books- Pride and Prejudice (which I am reading right now and can tell you that the movie does not compare in the slightest bit. And I LOVE the movie!). Musicals of all kinds, old movies.. I don't know what it is, but I just love those old, classic stories and songs and simple way of life! All this to say, my love for things of old has now carried over into my attempts to use technology and the digital world, in the form of this title. I hope that all who read this blog may find some joy, laughter, maybe even something to think about!

until next time,

home sweet hardin

My first time to blog... what to write about? Who will listen to the small thoughts of a college freshman? Do I have anything worthy enough to post in this world of bloggers? I'm not sure of the answers to any of these questions, but here I am ready to take my first steps- or words- into this unfamiliar territory.

I am writing tonight, from the comfort of my "home away from home". Others refer to it as Hardin House. Here in this old, dated girls dorm, I should be studying for a math quiz, reading about Benjamin Franklin, or the ideas of "Children's Movement". Nevertheless, I sit here procrastinating, which is no surprise to anyone who knows me the least bit. I'm not sure what to blog about quite yet, but be patient readers.. if any of you are out there. My mind is full of thoughts, all swarming around waiting to be put out there.

until then, i'm off to study.. or try to at least
